Environment-Friendly Policy

Instituto Español is committed to using the safest and most effective ingredients available to provide the best skincare products. We are committed to do everything we can to be a leader in environmentally friendly and responsible practices.

We embrace with enthusiasm and pride numerous evolving programs to significantly reduce our carbon footprint.

Not Tested on Animals Policy

Animal testing, also known as animal experimentation, animal research, and in-vivo testing, is the use of non-human animals in experiments.

Instituto Español does not condone the use of animal testing on cosmetics and beauty products.  You have our assurance that no  animal testing is used in any phase of product development by the company, its laboratories, or suppliers.

The recently adopted European Union Cosmetics Directive confirmed the ban on the animal testing of ingredients used in cosmetic products with a cut off date of 11th March 2009. After this date ingredients used in cosmetic products must not be tested on animals.

Instituto Español has never tested our products on animals and never will. Additionally, we do not fund any independent source to conduct animal testing on our behalf.

We are committed to the global adoption of alternative safety-testing methods and the elimination of animal testing on cosmetics worldwide.  We are against the suffering endured by animals when ingredients and products are tested. We support organisations that are developing alternative methods of testing which satisfy possible legal requirements, without using animals.

RSPCA Australia recommends that consumers only buy products supplied by companies operating a cruelty-free policy. There are three criteria for such a policy:

  • The company manufacturing the cosmetic product does not originate, endorse or finance any form of testing on animals. This includes testing by the company themselves or through contractors at any stage of product development, production or marketing.
  • Their cosmetics must not contain ingredients tested on animals by or on behalf of the cosmetics industry, after a fixed cut-off date. This means the company uses only established ingredients which need no further animal testing, and no ingredients or products have been tested on animals for the purpose of developing the cosmetic after the stated cut-off date.
  • The policy includes a commitment to take reasonable steps to achieve a reduction in, and eventual ending of animal use in industry. Funding research into humane alternatives to animals testing could be one way to help achieve this.

Instituto Español fully adheres to RSPCA’s guidelines on animal cruelty.

Recyclable Packaging

All our products are packaged in recyclable materials.  Our products wholesale cartons are made of 100% recyclable cardboard.

Energy Efficient, Environmentally Sustainable Working Environment

Our manufacturing plant and offices are continually taking steps to be energy efficient and reduce waste in every way we can.  We use special energy efficient lighting when possible; we avoid using paper plates and plastic utensils; we reduce our heating and air conditioning temperatures; desks and public areas have accessible recycle and trash containers; and we are looking at other environmentally sustainable efforts.
